We use this quote loudly and proudly, particularly since we recently brainstormed and voted on taglines for our company points of culture that have been incorporated into the language we use internally, with our field team and clients.

These core values truly establish the foundation for how and why we work. They are implemented and recognized through all aspects of our business, from its integration into our goals that we set during performance reviews, to our Mirus Marvel of the Month recognition program that highlights one field team member per month who exudes our core values before, during and after event executions.

Last month, we also initiated our first annual Core Values awards for the 2018 year, where each individual office employee received an award recognizing their commitment to a specific core value based on testimonials of clients and the field team.

We always look forward to our quarterly retreats, which are a fun way to bond and relax away from our desks. Whether it is having a luncheon tea party (with the fancy hats), barbecuing at the CEO’s house, going wine tasting at some local wineries, or enjoying a spa day with a much-needed massage or facial, we know how to have a good time.

We also host special client appreciation events as a way to connect face-to-face and thank our clients for choosing to partner with Mirus. We have hosted laid back outings at a craft brewery in San Diego, happy hours, and twice, we hosted a day at the races in our very own celebrity suite at the Del Mar Race Track.

CEO OF THE YEAR

Winning CEO of the Year gives me added credibility as a self-taught leader and entrepreneur — and it shows other female CEOs that it is possible to “have it all.” It certainly is an honor to be named among other CEOs who are proud to have created entities that provide over-the-top service to clients and great opportunities for growth to employees.

This business started out for me as a way to do something I love; I did not originally envision Mirus Promotions would become the force it is today, but I know I have created something special that is worth every investment of time and passion.

Understanding the importance of delegation in leadership, I train my internal team to be leaders instead of managers to help them be self-reliant and build loyalty among our field team. I encourage questions, growth and safety in decision-making. Everything I do is focused on building team members’ confidence, which supports the growth of the business. In 2018, my leadership style was tested like never before, as I took some time off after becoming a mother — and everything ran like clockwork. That success has allowed me to cut back the time I’m in the office every week, so I can spend valuable time with my son and be secure in the knowledge that the business and our valued clients are being taken care of.

I have grown into the CEO I always wanted to be along the way. This is no longer just a job for me; it is about job creation for hundreds of young people; creating opportunities for clients and staff across the country; and providing top-notch service to clients we treat like family through trust, communication, and loyalty.

Winning this award allows me to further inspire my team and continue to grow the company to become the number one trusted field marketing company in the nation. It solidifies the belief I have in myself that the hard work I have invested and continue to invest to learn and lead is recognized by my peers and role models.
